Only God can wash away the hidden sins of our hearts.
Lord, Cleanse Me and Make My Heart Right Before You
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9
Lord, I come humbly before You and ask You to cleanse my heart and renew a right spirit within me. Forgive me for thoughts I have had, words I have spoken, and things I have done that are not glorifying to You or are in direct contradiction to Your commands. Specifically, I confess to You (name any thoughts, words, or actions that you know are not pleasing to God). I confess it as a sin and I repent of it. I choose to walk away from this pattern of thought or action and live Your way. I know You are “gracious and merciful, slower to anger and of great kindness” (Joel 2:13). Forgive me for ever taking that for granted.
In Jesus’ name I pray.
Make My Child Quick to Confess Wrongdoing
"He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy." Proverbs 28:13
Lord, I pray You would give (name of child) a heart that is quick to confess her (his) sins. May she (he) easily recognize them and not even try to hide them. Help her (him) to be truly repentant of them so that she (he) can be forgiven and cleansed. Help her (him) to understand that Your laws, and my rules, are for her (his) benefit and that the confession and repentance You require must become a way of life. At the moment of recognition and repentance, may she (he) say as David did, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and give me a right attitude” (Psalm 51:10, paraphrased). Take away all attraction to disobedience, and put in her (his) heart a desire to do the right thing.
In Jesus’ name I pray.
