Motherhood: Is There Not a Cause? (Part 4/6)

Don't let today's little things steal your future big things.

It’s very natural to look at the natural circumstances standing in your way when you have a big cause and big goals to help you fulfill that cause. Your mind often wants to get you into a state of worry over all the logistics that it will take to do what you’ve got in your heart to do—all the situations or even people in your way.

I like to call these “little things.” Sure, they seem big, but, in reality, they are just like Goliath in the end: one stone’s-throw away from being insignificant!

It’s tempting to fixate on whatever it is that you lack—but if David did that, he would never have stepped out into battle. He never would have picked up one stone. If he had focused on Goliath’s size instead of the size of his God, he would never have had the passion to do the unthinkable and go head-to-head with a very big boy!

In other words, if David hadn’t focused on God, he would not only have missed his opportunity to help the army of Israel that day, but he also would have forfeited his future as king of Israel.

Don’t let the little things that are trying to mock you and torment your mind steal the big thing that is in your future. What are the little things? Not long ago, I was reading Matthew 6:31: “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?”

You can’t live without food. You can’t live without water. And nobody wants to see you walking around naked! Those things are important! But Jesus taught that He didn’t want us dwelling over and over on these kinds of things—it showed us that God’s best for our life isn’t to live in a state of worry.

What you think, you will become—so don’t waste precious real estate in your mind by letting worry-filled thoughts run your life. They’ll steal your destiny if you do, because they’ll creep out of your mind and start dripping out of your mouth. That’s called worry-filled speech, and it’s a seemingly small little thing that in actuality will steal your big future.

Your future is in your mouth—so say what you want and not what you have. Look at your God and have faith. David changed the course of his life with passion. It’s the power that created a new life for him and helped him achieve the cause.
